It is the perfect time of year to gather Rosehips whether it be in your garden or in a
park or in the wilds of the country. Just make sure that where you get them from
that they haven’t been sprayed and are away from pollution.
Remember, don’t take them all the birds need some to make over the winter. Just
take a few from one plant and move to the next. Thank nature and the plants
when you’re finished. I often leave an offering of something behind to say thanks.
Note: Rosehip tea will contain more Vitamin C than the syrup.
When you get home was them well. Then make a few scores on each one.
Boil a volume of Rosehips to half the water (i.e. 1 litre Rosehips to 500ml of
water). Boil for 20 mins with lid on the pan.
Leave to cool and then strain with muslin cloth or cheese cloth.
Now for 2 cups of Rosehip juice add 1 cup of sugar (try some honey, rice syrup or
agave syrup if you like). Boil for 5 mins.
Then pour the syrup into sterilised bottles and store in fridge or cool, dark place.
Take a teaspoon (5ml) three times a day - or more if you’re really under the
weather.
